Skin Maintenance = Slower Aging of the Skin

Dear Audrey,
What are the benefits of getting a facial?

Ah facials—one of my favorite indulgences that has become a true necessity.  I love getting a facial.  I started getting them as a treat to myself, but as I get older I see the benefits and necessity of getting regular facials.  Just about anyone can benefit from having a facial—and as you age, the benefits continue to increase.

Facials help deeply clean the skin, removing toxins caused by pollution, grease and dirt found in your everyday environment. Facials can help to improve and restore, increasing the flow of oxygen-enriched blood to skin cells. They feel good, offering soothing relaxation. Facial massage increases circulation and the flow of blood. Some include a variety of products with aromatherapy, scents that smell good, and relieve stress as well as encourage peace of mind and contentment.

I’m sure like me; you have a drawer full of face creams, toners and masks.  But ask yourself this—“has my skin changed, are these products right for my skin now, are my products old or outdated?”  If you answered yes or I don’t know to any of these questions a facial could be just what you need.  The products you are using may not be right for you skin. A good Esthetician can help you determine your skin type and recommend products are best for you—therefore saving you money.

Twenty to Thirty—Start Now!

Twenty and Thirty year olds can learn from a professional Esthetician how to care for their skin, chose the right products and learn the truth about how important sun protection is. Starting now can only increase your chances for healthy, radiant skin.

Late Thirty to Forty-The Signs of Aging

Are you in your late thirty’s or approaching forty?  Are signs of aging beginning to appear?  Facials can be a welcome addition to your arsenal of anti-aging tricks. During a facial you’ll experience a deep pore cleansing and a gentle effective exfoliation improving your appearance, skin circulation and even better absorption of moisturizers and serums.

Forty-Five and Aging Beautifully

At forty-five or older facials can help inhibit the physical signs of aging by adding extra deep hydration. In fact, scheduling regular facials helps maintain older skin by removing excess debris in the pores, tightening and toning the skin and giving a radiant glow of health and well being. It’s an easy formula to follow:

Skin Maintenance = Slower Aging of the Skin

What should I expect during a facial?

Make sure to let the Esthetician know if it’s your first facial. The environment is designed for you to be able to relax and enjoy the service. Close your eyes if you want; don’t feel like you have to talk the entire time.
Facials should be are designed just for your skin type. You should expect your skin to be cleansed, exfoliated, toned, moisturized and balanced. Often varying styles of massage may be used to enhance relaxation or stimulate lymphatic flow.
