ASK AUDREY:

Multi-Masking

Dear Audrey,
I’ve seen the term “multi-masking” everywhere. What is it?

Yes, multi-masking has really had a surge in popularity lately. It is a really great way to personalize your facial routine to meet the needs of your unique skin. This concept has been used in the skincare industry for ages, but lately has become a pretty popular at-home trend.

What is it?

Multi-masking is basically what the name suggests. You apply more than one type of mask to strategic parts of your face to achieve maximum (targeted) benefits at the same time. For example, someone with combination skin might enjoy a pore refining or oil controlling mask on the T-zone (forehead, temples, nose, and chin) with a more moisturizing mask on dryer areas like the cheeks.

Why do it?

Multi-masking is a great way to save time and maximize benefits! Create your own personalized combinations for specific areas with different needs.

Here are some recommended products by skin type:

Mature skin:

T-Zone – dermalogica Age Smart MultiVitamin Power Recovery Masque
Cheeks – dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque

All skin types:

bareMinerals ClayMates Be Bright and Be Firm Face Mask Duo or bareMinerals ClayMates Be Pure and Be Dewy Face Mask Duo. These 2-in-1s make multi-masking easy!

Oily/Acne:

T-Zone – dermalogica MediBac Sebum Clearing Masque
Cheeks – dermalogica Skin Refining Mask

Remember, treatments work their best when used as part of a full skin care regimen!

Never skip out on washing and moisturizing, especially in the evening! Don’t forget about your throat and decollate! Treat weekly or as directed on product packaging. And last but not least, be sure you layer your products in the correct order:

  1. Cleanser
  2. Toner
  3. Mask
  4. Serums and targeted treatments
  5. Moisturizer

Now go enjoy a you-nique facial!

xo,
